Brad’s Landscaping

Brad's Landscaping - July POM

July 2015: Unique Patio Design by Brad’s Landscaping – Click the photo to read about this project.

Brad’s Landscaping may be one of the best kept secrets in the area, and Brad Houghwot is perfectly fine with it. Operating a business that is charmingly old school in a high tech world has earned him a very loyal customer base, primarily in the world renowned Chautauqua Institution.

He does venture out of the gated community for work and The Stone & Outdoor Living Center staff has selected a project Brad recently completed in Clymer, NY as our July Project of the Month.  The project features a circular patio constructed from Toffee Onyx Old English pavers, curved benches built with double sided Toffee Onyx MaytRx Wall Stone, both of which are Cambridge Pavingstones with ArmorTech products, a water feature created from natural stones found on Laura’s property, and beautiful landscaping. The homeowner came up with the unique circular design concept and Brad made her creative vision a reality!

Other notable projects this season include a 20 inch wide, 70 foot long walkway install in Lakewood that leads homeowners from their door to the lake; Cambridge Holland 4 x 8 bricks in Toffee Onyx were selected to complete that job.  A driveway in the Chautauqua Institution got a facelift with the beautiful Redrock Blend Cambridge Pavingstones, which have incredible color and depth that was inspired by none other than the famous Red Rocks of the Rocky Mountains. Brad also completed a massive 1,200 foot patio in The Institution using Cambridge XL pavers in the Limestone Quarry Blend from the Sherwood Collection.

Brad is definitely an advocate for Cambridge Pavingstones with ArmorTech. He remarked that he has noticed a difference in quality since the addition of the ArmorTech technology and he likes the benefit of the fully-transferable limited lifetime warranty Cambridge offers when products are installed to their specifications, which he ensures they are.

With 30 years in the business, 23 of which have been self-employed, one must possess some serious passion to keep up with the demanding task of turning customers’ visions into reality. That’s why Brad keeps at it, he loves the thrill of taking a blank canvas or lackluster outdoor living space and creating something magnificent that homeowners can really be proud of and find joy in.

He’s definitely good at it. As of right now Brad’s Landscaping, whose crew consists solely of Brad, is juggling around 47 customer’s property. He’s previously tended for more but has noticed a definite increase in customers requesting laborious hardscapes and stone work, especially in Chautauqua Institution, where most properties have only a small outdoor space.  A hardscape with attractive landscaping is a great way to maximize those small spaces and increase home values. Not to mention low maintenance compared to a grass lawn.

The staff at the Stone & Outdoor Living Center is pleased to feature Brad’s Landscaping as our July project of the Month. If you’re a professional and would like to submit a job to be considered for Project of the Month, email 4-5 photos and a brief description to
